狄奥多西法典

《狄奥多西法典》（拉丁語：Codex Theodosianus）为东罗马帝国皇帝狄奥多西二世对罗马法进行的汇编。公元429年3月26日，狄奧多西二世以及西部帝国共治皇帝瓦伦丁尼安三世组织委员会准备编纂[1][2]，并于438年2月15日公布。439年1月1日，法典开始于帝国东西两部分生效[1]。

编纂

公元429年3月26日，狄奥多西二世在君士坦丁堡元老院宣布打算组建一个委员会，以汇编自君士坦丁大帝以来罗马帝国的所有法律。起初由8人编纂，收集君士坦丁大帝以来的皇帝谕令以及权威法学家的评论注释，在发现任务繁重难以完成后，又于435年另加入16人，同时改为只收集皇帝敕令，至438年方才完成[3]。来自安条克的法务官安提奥库斯（英语：Antiochus Chuzon）为法典编纂的总监[4]。

法典

整部法典共16卷，以拉丁文写成，囊括了313年至437年间的2500多条法令。根据约翰·F·马修斯的说法，此为自《十二铜表法》以来，罗马政府首次汇编与公布其法令[5]。法典涵盖了4至5世纪罗马帝国政治、社会经济、文化以及宗教方面[6]。其还关注加强基督教正统信仰，并包含了65条针对异教徒的法令[7]。
