恰特期（也被称作渐新世晚期）是渐新世的第二个阶段。其起止时间为27.82百万年前和23.03百万年前。

在恰特期，发生了人类所知的有史以来规模最大的单起火山喷发事件——La Garita超级火山的鱼谷喷发，其火山爆发指数为9.2级^[4]，时间为2,751万年以前^[5]。
