克利福德·埃德蒙德·博斯沃思(英语:Clifford Edmund Bosworth;1928年12月29日-2015年2月18日)FBA英语Fellow of the British Academy,是一位英国历史学家、东方学学者,专攻阿拉伯学英语Arab studies伊朗学

生平

博斯沃思1928年12月29日生于英格兰谢菲尔德。他的父亲克利福德·博斯沃思曾在监护委员会英语Board of Guardians养老金与国家保险部英语Ministry of Pensions and National Insurance工作;母亲名叫格拉迪斯·康斯坦斯·格雷戈里(Gladys Constance Gregory)。他在牛津大学圣约翰学院获现代史文学学士学位,在爱丁堡大学获中东学英语Middle Eastern studies文学硕士研究博士学位[1][2]

进入爱丁堡大学前,他先在苏格兰农业部(Department of Agriculture for Scotland)工作,在那里认识了安妮特·艾伦·托德(Annettee Ellen Todd),两人于1957年9月19日结婚,后生有三女[1]

他在圣安德鲁大学曼彻斯特大学普林斯顿大学人文学中心(Center for the Humanities)有长期教职,2004年后并任埃克塞特大学客座教授。2015年2月26日,他在萨默赛特郡约维尔去世[1]

贡献

博斯沃思在学术期刊上发表过上百篇论文,出版十几本专著。另外,他任伊斯兰百科全书的主编,担任伊朗百科全书的咨询编辑,并撰写其中的部分文章(伊斯兰百科全书200余篇,伊朗百科全书100余篇),并为大英百科全书大美百科全書撰写部分文章[3]
