Ģerboņa heraldiskais apraksts: „Zelta laukā melns krauklis, aiz tā kreisajā pusē zaļa četrlapu āboliņa lapa“

2012. gada 28. martā tika apstiprināts Preiļu novada ģerbonis. Tā heraldiskais apraksts vēsta, ka Preiļu novada ģerbonī ir attēlots zelta laukā melns krauklis, aiz tā kreisajā pusē zaļa četrlapu āboliņa lapa. Zelta laukā krauklis ir saglabāts no Preiļu pilsētas vēsturiskā ģerboņa, bet četrlapu āboliņa lapa ataino novada četras lauku teritorijas. Ģerboni izstrādājis Vladimirs Ladusāns.
