English: *Most Chinese Mongols and Han Chinese in Inner Mongolia do not speak the standard Beijing Mandarin. The top four languages native to Inner Mongolia are Jin language (晋语, in green), Northeastern Mandarin (东北官话, also in green), a variety of Mongolian dialects (in yellow) and Lanzhou-Ningxia Mandarin (兰银官话, also in green).^[1][2] On this map, three of the above languages are ambiguously grouped and labelled as "Northern Mandarin".

• Jin language, distinct from the standard Beijing Mandarin and hence controversial to be classified as a dialect within Mandarin, is spoken along the east loop of the Yellow River loop, at the center of Inner Mongolia. The most studied Jin language dialects in Inner Mongolia are Baotou dialect (包头话) and Ordos dialect (鄂尔多斯方言).
• Northeastern Mandarin, much similar to the the standard Beijing Mandarin, is spoken along the eastern border of Inner Mongolia, geographically within the Northeast China Plain.
• Lanzhou-Ningxia Mandarin, fairly similar to the the standard Beijing Mandarin, is spoken along the west loop of the Yellow River loop, along the border of Ningxia. Its speakers are considerably lower than Jin language and Northeastern Mandarin in Inner Mongolia.
