红尾绿鹦鹉（學名：Lathamus discolor，英語：Swift Parrot，台湾作快速鸚鵡），又稱雨燕鸚鵡，是鸚形目舊世界鸚鵡科快速鸚鵡屬下的唯一一種鳥類。^[3]這個物種棲息於澳洲東南部的桉樹林地區，1月—5月間會遷徙至澳洲本土越冬，其餘時間則在塔斯馬尼亞度過，少數個體為全年留鳥。^[4]^[5]因其繁殖地遭受相當大的危害，且數量正急遽下降，被列為極危物種。^[6]

該物種由英國動物學家乔治·肖於1790年以Psittacus discolor的名稱描述，歸於非洲灰鸚鵡屬下。^[3]^[8]1830年，法國博物學家勒內-普里梅韋勒·萊松將其歸類至一個新屬下，並在1827年時被指定為該屬的模式種。^[3]^[9]^[10]其屬名Lathamus來自英國鳥類學家約翰·萊瑟姆。^[11]^:219-220而種小名discolor來自同字的拉丁語，意為「不同顏色的」。^[11]^:137

快速鸚鵡體長約23—25.5公分，體重約50—74公克。^[4]^[5]成鳥擁有翡翠綠色的體色，藍色的頭冠，鱗片狀紋路的黃色腹部，翅膀上的主要覆羽和初級飛羽呈深藍色，翅下則有特別的橙紅色羽毛。^[4]^[5]^[12]雌鳥與雄鳥外觀相似；而幼鳥顏色較為暗沉，紅色較少。^[4]其鳥喙寬平均約8.0公釐、深平均約13.7公釐、嘴峰長平均約15.8公釐；翼長平均約123.0公釐；跗蹠約14.3公釐；尾長約119.8公釐。^[13]

這個物種主要是樹棲性的鳥類，以花蜜及花粉為食，且舌頭就像吸蜜鸚鵡一般為毛刷狀。^[4]^[5]其繁殖季介於十月至隔年一月之間，在樹洞內築巢，每窩產3—5枚卵；卵約20天孵化，再約6周後幼鳥可離巢，10週後可獨立。^[4]^[5]牠們通常以小群出現，經常在樹間迅速穿梭，其極快的飛行速度及不規則的飛行路徑讓快速鸚鵡在飛行時可以使人可聽見呼嘯聲，並因此得名。^[5]^[14]

2011年時，研究人員估計快速鸚鵡的族群數量僅約有2000隻左右。^[6]因其繁殖範圍僅限於塔斯馬尼亞，除了棲息地的喪失和改變之外，外來的蜜袋鼯對其巢穴造成相當大的危害。^[6]《國際自然保護聯盟瀕危物種紅色名錄》中因其高速的族群下降趨勢，將快速鸚鵡列為極危物種。^[1]^[6]
