马尼托巴省是位于加拿大西部的草原三省之一。[1]根据2021年加拿大人口普查显示，该省共有1,342,153名居民，是加拿大人口第五多的省份。同时该省也是陆地面积第六大的省份，其面积为540,310.19平方公里（208,614.93平方英里）。[2]马尼托巴省目前有137个自治市镇[3]，其中10个被归类为城市。[4]

马尼托巴省的城市、乡镇和村庄被称为自治市镇。其中特别是城区自治市镇，是根据1996年《市政法》的条款组建的。马尼托巴省的一个城区自治市镇如若想被视为城市，其人口不得少于7,500人[5]，尽管弗林弗伦（其部分地区位于邻近的萨斯喀彻温省）[6]的人口数低于这一门槛。[4]根据马尼托巴省市政协会收集的2022年市政选举结果显示，每个城市的市政府都有一名市长。该省的温尼伯市和布兰登市皆存在更低一级的行政区划，而其他城市则不存在更低一级的行政区划。[7]
