2008年，派拉蒙影業宣佈改編自法蘭克·赫伯特的《沙丘》的電影正在開發中，並由彼得·柏格執導[11]。2009年10月，柏格離開了該項目[12]。2010年1月，宣佈電影由皮耶·莫瑞爾執導。但在2011年3月，派拉蒙影業放棄了該項目[13][14][15]。
