客户端/服务器运行时子系统 CSRSS 它是Windows NT操作系统家族中的一个组件，出现于Windows NT 4及后续系统，提供Win32子系统的用户模式侧。其提供了应用程序使用Windows API。
本地安全認證子系統服務 LSASS 微软窗口操作系统的一个内部程序，负责运行Windows系统安全政策。它在用户登录时电脑单机或服务器时，验证用户身份，管理用户密码变更，并产生访问字符。它也会在窗口安全日志中留下应有的记录。
Winlogon Winlogon的工作包括加载其他用户身份安全组件、提供图形化的登录界面，以及创建用户会话。在搜集到用户身份凭据之后，Winlogon会创建一个用户会话，并加载用户的配置，例如登录用户的所拥有的注册表项和在域中漫游的个人文件。在这个会话中Winlogon还会创建一个Windows工作站，在这个工作站中WinLogon会创建如下三个桌面：安全桌面负责显示系统安全界面、应用程序桌面负责显示用户启动的应用程序、屏幕保护桌面负责显示屏幕保护程序。
Svchost.exe 微软的窗口操作系统里专门用来运行DLL程序的前导程序。运行Windows操作系统的机器上会存在多个此进程，每个都在不同的安全环境中运行，其根据服务所需的权限不同而不同。
Windows on Windows 与WoW64 WoW Microsoft Windows NT操作系统家族中32位版本的兼容层，目的是扩展NTVDM以为运行为Windows 3.x编写的旧式Win16应用程序提供有限支持。64位系统上的“WOW”通常指在64位Windows上支持32位应用程序的WOW64。

NTLDR, IA64ldr, Winload 启动程序，执行基本的系统初始化，例如加载硬體抽象層和引导时设备驱动，优先于将控制递给Windows内核。在Vista之前的Windows版本中，若boot.ini中有多操作系统，NTLDR和IA64ldr将给用户显示菜单，或当按下F8时也会显示菜单。
復原主控台 它为系统管理员提供一个有限功能的命令行界面，用来对安装在系统上的窗口操作系统进行修复。恢复控制台可以通过窗口系统的安装媒体引导；亦可以安装在硬盘上，然后在开机菜单引导。不过把控制台安装在硬盘上将会带来一定风险，因为万一系统无法引导至NTLDR开机菜单，这样将会得物无所用。

Windows Boot Manager Windows Vista开始引进的新一代开机管理程序，用以取代NTLDR。当电脑运行完POST后，传统型BIOS会根据引导扇区查找开机硬盘中标记"引导"分区下的BOOTMGR文件；若是UEFI则是Bootmgfw.efi文件和Bootmgr.efi文件，接着管理程序会读取开机配置数据库（BCD, Boot Configuration Database）下的引导数据，接着根据其中的数据加载与默认或用户所选择的操作系统。
