伟鳞短额鲆为辐鳍鱼纲鲽形目鲽亚目鲆科的其中一种，为热带海水鱼，分布于印度太平洋区，从东非至澳洲、新喀里多尼亚海域，栖息深度7-200米，体长可达15公分，栖息在大陆棚沙泥底质水域，以甲壳类、多毛类等为食，生活习性不明，可作为食用鱼。
