《The Best》，又被称为《Simply The Best》[1][2][注 1]，是一首1980年代末的英语歌曲，由美国音乐人荷莉·奈特（英语：Holly Knight）及麦克·查普曼（英语：Mike Chapman）创作，原唱版本由威尔士女歌手邦妮·泰勒于1988年推出，以美国女歌手蒂娜·特纳于1989年推出的翻唱版本最为知名。[1]

背景与发行

《The Best》由美国音乐人荷莉·奈特（英语：Holly Knight）及麦克·查普曼（英语：Mike Chapman）共同创作[3]。据奈特忆述，此歌本是特意写给她倾慕的英国男歌手保罗·扬（英语：Paul Young），但被对方的经理人拒绝采用[4][注 2]，所以此歌的主题“The Best”（最好、最佳）虽在后世常被联想到体育方面的运用，但歌词实是有着爱欲的意味[5]。其后此歌被转交威尔士女歌手邦妮·泰勒录音[4]，成为其第七张个人录音室专辑《Hide Your Heart（英语：Hide Your Heart (album)）》[6]的前导单曲（英语：Lead single）[7]，于1988年1月发行[8][3][注 3]，专辑则于同年5月发行，发行公司为CBS。

此版本的成绩并不理想，但翌年蒂娜·特纳的翻唱版本却一鸣惊人。邦妮·泰勒曾坦言蒂娜·特纳的演绎比自己好，她亦表示当时处于自我怀疑的阶段，蒂娜·特纳版本的成功，却有助她重拾对于选择音乐素材的自信。[7][2]

1989年, 美国女歌手蒂娜·特纳翻唱了此歌，也恰巧同样作为其第七张个人录音室专辑《外交事务（英语：Foreign Affair）》的前导单曲[19]。蒂娜是麦克·查普曼及荷莉·奈特共同创作的另一首歌曲《Better Be Good To Me（英语：Better Be Good To Me）》（1984年发行）的原唱歌手[20]。在录制前蒂娜向创作者奈特提出了编曲意见，她认为应该加入原版欠缺的衔接段落（英语：Bridge (music)），并提高音调[5]。在这版本的间奏中有一段乐手Edgar Winter（英语：Edgar Winter）的萨克斯管独奏[20]，其演奏片段并出现在MV中。

发行公司为国会唱片。惟澳大利亚方面则由当地唱片公司Festival Records（英语：Festival Records）发行，1993年该公司又推出了一张收藏版单曲CD。[21]

蒂娜·特纳于1985-91年期间为百事可乐拍摄多辑电视广告，于多国播放[22]，均以自己的歌曲为广告歌，而《The Best》亦成为其1989年百事可乐广告的广告歌。[23]

蒂娜·特纳亦从1980年代末起参与新南威尔士橄榄球联赛（英语：New South Wales Rugby League premiership）（澳大利亚国家橄榄球联赛前身）的推广宣传，1989年其歌曲《What You Get Is What You See（英语：What You Get Is What You See）》（1986年发行）被选用为该赛事的广告歌曲；1990年《The Best》接替为新广告歌曲[24][25]，蒂娜·特纳亦于同年的总决赛中演唱[26]，此歌深入民心，被视为该赛事推广宣传上的重要一页，见下文[24][25]。1992年再推出了蒂娜·特纳与澳大利亚男歌手Jimmy Barnes（英语：Jimmy Barnes）的合唱版作为该赛事的宣传歌曲。2020年其后继赛事——国家橄榄球联赛再次起用此歌为宣传歌曲[27][28][29]，此版本广告中加入了一段10岁女童的清唱[30]。
