2021年桌山大火（英语：2021 Table Mountain fire，又称开普敦大火[2][3]）始于2021年4月18日，[4]波及南非桌山国家公园和开普敦近郊社区[5]，桌山上被破坏的建筑物包括罗德斯纪念碑（英语：Rhodes Memorial）、开普敦大学的上校区和莫斯特风车（英语：Mostert's Mill）[6][7]。另外，5名消防员因伤住院。[1]

火灾和回应

野火始于2021年4月18日早上，邻近位于桌山国家公园魔鬼峰（英语：Devil's Peak (Cape Town)）上的罗德斯纪念碑[8]消防员于早上8时45分接报。[4][6]报道指大火由流浪汉造成，[9]经松树和瓦砾蔓延，风令其蔓延至大学校园和城市。[5][9]高温和干燥的天气亦加剧了火灾的危险程度。[5]

最初，大火引发的烟雾和风气流阻碍了高空消防员的部署，[10]其后，超过250名消防员参与了灌救，亦有4架直升机协助洒水救火。[11][5][12]

到了下午2时10分，[13]开普敦大学的学生需要疏散。[14]当局向纽兰兹森林（英语：Newlands Forest）的远足人士发出警告尽快撤离。[15][4]在下午4时05分，南非国家公园（英语：South African National Parks）宣布罗德斯纪念碑的餐厅已被摧毁，[13]M3高速公路 (开普敦)（英语：M3 (Cape Town)）亦需要关闭。[16]

4月19日，西开普省省长阿伦·温德（英语：Alan Winde）指5名消防员被送往医院[1]其中至少4名因烧伤而入院。[19]

罗德斯纪念碑

火灾烧毁了罗德斯纪念碑的一间餐厅和邻近的礼拜堂。[16][20]

开普敦大学

开普敦大学内超过6座建筑物被烧毁[20][21][6][22]，而大学最主要的研究图书馆贾格尔图书馆（英语：Jagger Library）亦被部分烧毁。[23][24][9]虽然火灾探测系统防止了火蔓延到图书馆的其他位置，但阅读室被烧毁，拥有逾1300个收藏物和85000本书的档案部门亦被毁。[7][9][25][11]

后续

4月18日，开普敦大学副校长宣布暂停未来两天的学术活动。[28][29]到了4月19日，她指除了史墨兹宿舍（Smuts Hall）和富勒宿舍（Fuller Hall）的学生外，学生可在72小时内回到宿舍，[30]又指要使富勒宿舍回复适居条件可能需时数月。[30]

2021年4月18日下午8时10分，一名35岁男子被捕，涉嫌引发这场大火。[17][31]
