Deafheaven（英语：Deafheaven）是来自美国加州旧金山的后金属（英语：Post-metal）乐团，成立于2010年。乐团一开始是由主唱George Clarke（英语：George Clarke）以及吉他手Kerry Mccoy（英语：Kerry Mccoy）两人所组成。 两人最初录制了一张未命名的Demo（英语：Untitled Deafheaven demo EP）专辑，并于2010年6月1日发行。在发行Demo专辑后，Deafheaven招募了三位新成员并且开始了巡回演出。他们在2010年底的时与唱片公司Deathwish Inc.（英语：Deathwish）签约，于2011年四月发行了他们的第一张专辑Roads To Judah（英语：Roads To Judah）。

他们格融合了黑金属、后金属（英语：後金屬）、后庞克和蹬鞋音乐，并且使得这种风格流行了起来，这种风格被评论家称呼为: Blackgaze(蹬鞋黑金属/黑瞪（英语：Blackgaze）)。

Deafheaven于2013年发行第二张专辑Sunbather（英语：Sunbather）。这张专辑受到大量的好评，成为美国成为年度最佳评论专辑之一。[1]随后于2015年10月及2018年7月，Deafheaven分别推出了New Burmuda（英语：New Burmuda）[2]和Ordinary Corrupt Human Love（英语：Ordinary Corrupt Human Love）。他们2021年的第五张专辑Infinite Granite（英语：Infinite Granite），大量减少了黑金属的高音嘶吼的唱腔。

乐团历史

专辑-Demo（2010年）

Deafheaven 2010年2月成立于加州旧金山[3]，由主唱George Clarke与吉他手Kerry McCoy创立。两人在组成Deafheaven前，他们之前曾经在辗核乐团Rise of Caligula里一起表演过[4][5]。关于Deafheaven这个团名，Clarke不确定当初他是如何想到的，不过他知道在文学家莎士比亚作品Sonnet 29（英语：Sonnet 29）之中，有出现过这个词。而Deaf（失聪）以及Heaven（天堂）这两个字组合在一起，是为了向著名的瞪鞋摇滚乐团Slowdive（英语：Slowdive）致敬[6]。

2010年4月Carke和McCoy在Atomic Garden录音室[7]与制作人Jack Shirley（英语：Jack Shirley）录制了Deafheaven首张未命名的Demo（英语：Untitled Deafheaven demo EP）专辑作品，因为当时两人没有自己的电吉他和吉他音箱，Demo都是使用木吉他来编曲，并使用录音室设备来录制[8]。录音的费用大约是500元美金，这个价钱对当时的Deafheaven来说是无力支付的[8]。因资金有限，这张作品以数位媒体的方式发行为主，也发行了限量的录音带。作品中的四首歌曲的曲风是混合著传统黑金属和后摇滚[9]。 Deafheaven原本没有打算将这张Demo专辑上传，然而他们最后还是把这张Demo作品上传到他们喜欢的部落格里[4][9]。Demo获得好评后，Clarke和McCoy在克雷格列表中招募了另外的三位成员，分别是贝斯手Derek Prine，来自瞪鞋摇滚乐团Whirr（英语：Whirr）(旧称Whirl[10])的吉他手Nick Bassett（英语：Nick Bassett），以及鼓手Trevor Deschryver来组成了五人乐队，从而展开他们于2010年7月的第一场表演[4][9]。

Deafheaven于2010年12月宣布与唱片公司Deathwish（英语：Deathwish）签约[11](Deathwish这家唱片公司，是由传奇金属核乐团Converge（英语：Converge）的主唱Jacob Bannon（英语：Jacob Bannon）创立)。 Deathwish联络了Deafheaven，然而一开始只是想为他们之前的Demo发行实体专辑。 但当时的乐团已经编写了一些新歌素材，并询问Deathwish能不能以Demo的方式，帮他们发行这新歌素材。[9]一开始Deafheaven透过Dethwish的第一次发行，是一张单曲形式的7吋黑胶，内容包含“Libertine Dissolves”和 “Daedalus”这两首来自之前Demo的歌曲，唱片限量的发行，并作为礼物，随机发送给在 Deathwish 网路商店购物的人试听。[12]

Deafheaven的首发专辑“Roads to Judah（英语：Roads to Judah）”，在2011年4月26日透过Deathwish发行，[7]专辑的标题是指在Deafheaven家乡的旧金山轻轨N线(N Judah)，[9]专辑的歌词是关于主唱Clarke曾经药物滥用和放荡的一年。[13]Roads to Judah获得了Decibel（英语：Decibel (magazine)）和RVA Magazine（英语：RVA Magazine）的正面评价，[14][15]并获得NPR、Pitchfork和The A.V. Club的年终歌单的位置。[16][17][18]MSN Music（英语：MSN Music）也把Deafheaven评论为2011年其中一个最佳的新艺人。[19]

Roads To Judah巡演历程: 为了推广Roads ot Judah，Deafheaven开始了众多演出，在2011年，参加德州奥斯汀的SXSW艺术节，[4][13]之后跟随加拿大噪音摇滚乐团KEN mode（英语：KEN mode）在美国巡演，[20]然后在加州的Sound and Fury音乐祭上演出，[21]接著跟随后摇滚乐团Russian Circles一起在美国巡演[22]，并于2012年初进行了欧洲巡演。[23]

吉他手McCoy说，Russian Circles在巡回演出时“特别照顾我们”，并教导他们乐团应该如何表现。 他说：“任何成功乐团的三项规则，是写出好曲子、出色的现场表演以及在做这些事情时，不要当个混蛋。当然我们一直在努力做到这一点，但Russian Circles把这些概念强加在我们的脑海里。”[24]Deafheaven也在2012年，参加了纽约布鲁克林的Northside音乐节（英语：Northside Festival）[25]和德州奥斯汀的Fun Fun Fun音乐节（英语：Fun Fun Fun Fest）。[26]

作为Deathwish Inc.免费现场Live专辑系列的一部分，Deafheaven在2011年发行了Live at The Blacktop现场Live专辑。这张专辑于2011年在加州贝尔花园的The Blacktop进行了完整的现场表演(The Blacktop是个由装货码头改建而成的场地)。[27]

2012年10月，Deafheaven透过The Flenser与美国黑金属乐团Bosse-de-Nage（英语：Bosse-de-Nage）发行了一张合发EP（英语：Split album）。Deafheaven 翻唱了两首Mogwai歌曲Punk Rock和Cody，并作为单曲发行。[28] 这两首歌源自Mogwai在1999年发行的专辑“Come On Die Young（英语：Come On Die Young）”。在同一年，Deafheaven透过Sargent House（英语：Sargent House）公司，把2010年的Demo重新制作，并发行限量版黑胶唱片。[29]

早在2011年9月，Deafheaven宣布他们已经开始编写了新专辑的歌曲。在那个时候，McCoy形容新的歌曲:“比Roads to Judah更快速、更黑暗、更重且更加的实验性”。[3]然而在2012年的12月，Clarke形容他们的新歌会减少一些忧郁感，也减少一些围绕黑金属的氛围，反而歌曲有时会加入更多受到摇滚影响，甚至流行乐影响的声音。[30]

新的专辑，命名为Sunbather（英语：Sunbather），歌曲如同过去Demo时期一样，由创始成员Clarke和McCoy创作出来，[31]而不是像第一张专辑Roads to Judah那样，由五人一起创作。不过进入录音室的阶段，新鼓手Daniel Tracy[32]把自己的打鼓风格添加到已经编好的新歌之中。[31]新专辑标题完整的反映了主唱的理念。他表示，这是为了代表：“这个概念来自于富裕、美丽、完美的存在，而这些是自然无法实现的。并且因为你自己的缺点、人际关系问题、家庭烦恼和死亡...等，不得不面对现实的挣扎”。[31]Deafheaven和制作人Jack Shirley在2013年1月进入录音室开始录制Sunbather，[30]之后在2013年6月11日透过Deathwish发行了这张专辑。[33]

这张专辑于各大媒体网站获得好评，例如Metacritic基于18条评论，给予专辑92/100分的评价，[34]并宣布其为2013年最受好评的主要专辑。[1]这也是Deafheaven首次登上Billboard排行榜，在Billboard200排行榜上排名第130名，在Top Heatseekers排行榜上排名第2名。[35]

另外，除了新鼓手Daniel Tracy加入了Sunbather录音过程之外，乐团为了2013年的巡回表演，还另外招募了贝斯手Stephen Clark和吉他手Shiv Mehra。[5]创始成员Clarke和McCoy表示:“先前的乐团成员因为旅途生活困难且收入微薄，甚至没有收入而分道扬镳”。[8]

Sunbather巡演历程: Deafheaven开始Sunbather的巡演是2013 年4-5月与The Secret一起在欧洲、俄罗斯巡回演出，[36]随后于6-7月与 Marriages一起进行美国巡演。[37]在2014年1月，Deafheaven在澳洲巡回，[38]在2-3月时和Between the Buried and Me（英语：Between the Buried and Me）、Intronaut（英语：Intronaut）和The Kindred（英语：The Kindred (band)）一起同场表演，[39]5-6月在亚洲和欧洲巡演，[40]6月和Pallbearer（英语：Pallbearer (band)）一起在美国巡演，[40]接著在8月开始第二次欧洲巡演，[41]9月和No Joy（英语：No Joy）展开了北美巡演。[41]

在2013年，Deafheaven成员Daniel Tracy和Shiv Mehra与乐团外的音乐人Varun Mehra和Christopher Natividad，一起成立了一个名为Creepers迷幻摇滚乐团，算是临时的业馀/副业乐团。那一年，该乐团发行了同名EP，然后2014年透过All Black Recording Company[42][43]唱片公司(由Deafheaven的主唱Clarke和乐团前成员Derek Prine一起创立的独立厂牌[44])发行了首张专辑Lush。

2014年8月25号，Deafheaven 发行了一首新单曲 From the Kettle Onto the Coil（英语：From the Kettle Onto the Coil） ，这首歌成为了有线电视台Adult Swim 2014年的每周单曲系列的其中一首。[45]Clarke形容这首歌是随著Sunbather专辑歌曲相同的形式编曲，并不能从这首歌之中猜想出第三张专辑的影子。[46]

在2015年7月，Deafheaven开始预告他们第三张录音专辑，可能会在2015的十月的时候透过Epitaph唱片的姊妹厂牌Anti（英语：Anti- (record label)）来发行相关内容，并透过一段新歌搭配“录音室片段素材”和“岩石海岸线的景色”的简短影像，来发布消息。[47][48]同年7月28号，乐团宣布第三张专辑，标题命名为New Bermuda（英语：New Bermuda (album)），10月2号将透过Anti-发行。[49]New Bermuda被Spin杂志评为2015年度最佳专辑第12位。[50]

乐团在2018年1月开始了New Bermuda的后续作品工作，当时他们宣布乐团正在录音室制作一张新专辑，计画将在同一年晚些发行。[51]乐团在4月17号发行了第四张专辑Ordinary Corrupt Human Love（英语：Ordinary Corrupt Human Love）的主打单曲Honeycomb，[52]另一首新单曲Canary Yellow在6月12号发行。[53][54]新专辑在7月13号透过Anti-发行。得到了评论家的广泛好评。

在12月7号宣布单曲Honeycomb获得了“葛莱美最佳金属演出奖（英语：Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance）”的提名。[55][56]

乐团在2019年2月27号为他们的第四张专辑发行了B-side 的部分，命名为Black Brick（英语：Black Brick）。[57]在2020年12月4号，乐团发行了10周年现场录音专辑，命名为10 Years Gone（英语：10 Years Gone）。唱片的发行说明表示，乐团“感谢他们能够完成这个计画，而且他们在为2021年的新歌创作时，粉丝们一直支持他们。”，这暗示了新专辑不久后会推出。[58][59]

在2021年6月7号，乐团清除了他们社群媒体的页面，并且在他们的官方网站和社群媒体平台，贴出了一支显示08.20.21日期的预告影片。[60]两天后，新单曲Great Mass of Color在社群平台发行。新歌和之前的黑金属风格不同，更加强调了瞪鞋摇滚和干净唱腔(非嘶吼)的风格。之后透露了这首歌是第五张专辑Infinite Granite（英语：Infinite Granite）的主打歌。[61]

在2023年四月，Deafheaven成为了荷兰音乐祭Roadburn Festival（英语：Roadburn Festival）的主打乐团，在连续的晚上，完整的表演了Sunbather（英语：Sunbather）(for its 10-year anniversary)和Infinite Granite（英语：Infinite Granite）两张专辑。[62]

2024年2月7号，乐队发布预告影片，宣布与Roadrunner Records（英语：Roadrunner Records） 签约。[63]

音乐风格

Deafheaven的音乐风格曾被形容为黑金属、[64][65]黑瞪鞋（英语：Blackgaze）、[66][67]后金属（英语：post-metal）、[68][69]screamo、[70][71]瞪鞋摇滚、[72][73]后黑金属(Post-black metal)（英语：black metal）[74]和艺术摇滚/金属（英语：art rock）。[75]Deafheaven音乐风格曾被滚石杂志形容为:“突破性地融合了黑金属、瞪鞋摇滚和后摇滚”。[76]吉他手McCoy举例了影响乐团的各种风格，包含了另类摇滚和早期的鞭笞金属，但他表示并不觉得他们是黑金属乐团，因为虽然有受到黑金属的影响，但他们没有“其精神、其美感，或是真的很黑金属的声音”。[77]

主唱George Clarke提到影响他们的乐团有: Burzum,、ColdWorld、Leviathan（英语：en）,、Iron Maiden、 Metallica、Slayer、Morbid Angel（英语：Morbid Angel）、Pantera和Weakling（英语：Weakling）。[78]

Red Bull Music Academy（英语：Red Bull Music Academy）日报在2017年的访谈中，McCoy指出: “在我们乐团成立的10年前，那些瞪鞋黑金属或是后黑金的东西，早就已经成型完整了”。[79]
