詹姆斯·邦德·斯托克代爾（英語：James Bond Stockdale，1923年12月23日—2005年7月5日）是一名美國海軍中將和飛行員。
1964年北部灣事件期間，斯托克代爾在提康德羅加號航空母艦上指揮空襲。1965年9月9日，他所乘坐的A-4天鷹式攻擊機飛機在北越被擊落，並在河內被俘虜。斯托克代爾被北越關押長達7年，獲釋後獲得美國榮譽勳章。此後他從1977年10月起擔任海軍戰爭學院院長，直到1979年從海軍退役。1979年到1980年，斯托克代爾擔任南卡羅萊納州色岱爾軍校校長。
在1992年總統大選期間，斯托克代爾以副總統候選人身份搭檔羅斯·佩羅參選。
斯托克代爾悖論
在吉姆·柯林斯的著作《從優秀到卓越》中，提及一段有關斯托克代爾向柯林斯講述如何度過越南戰俘營的故事：[1]
我從不失去信心，我非但堅信我會走出戰俘營，並且將迎來勝利。這段戰俘營的經歷在我人生中意義非凡。（I never lost faith in the end of the story, I never doubted not only that I would get out, but also that I would prevail in the end and turn the experience into the defining event of my life, which, in retrospect, I would not trade.）[2]
當柯林斯詢問誰沒有存活下來時，斯托克代爾回答：
哦，這簡單，樂觀主義者嘛。 他們當中有人曾說，「我們在聖誕節前就能離開戰俘營了。」但等聖誕節過了後，他們又說，「我們在復活節前一定會被釋放。」復活節都過了，感恩節又要來了，接下來又是聖誕節。 他們最終在絕望中去世。（Oh, that's easy, the optimists. 柯林斯覺得奇怪，您這不是自相矛盾嘛，但接著斯托克代爾又回答：
這給人一個很深刻的教訓，就是決不能喪失必勝的信念，並且永遠不要將必勝的信念與所面對的殘酷的現實混為一談。（This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose—with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.）[2]

去世
斯托克代爾晚年罹患阿爾茨海默症，[3]並因該疾病於2005年7月5日去世。斯托克代爾的葬禮在海軍學院禮拜堂舉行，最終安葬在美國海軍學院公墓。
