2019－2021年伊拉克抗議也被稱為蒂什林革命[8]和伊拉克起義，伊拉克人民通過示威，靜坐和公民抗命等各種方式表達對腐敗，失業和低效的公共服務的不滿。抗議活動於2019年10月1日開始，遍及伊拉克中部和南部各省，後來訴求逐步升級為推翻伊拉克執政當局以及要求阻止伊朗對伊拉克的干預（英語：Iranian intervention in Iraq (2014–present)）。伊拉克政府對抗議者使用子彈，狙擊手，高溫開水和催淚彈，導致數百人傷亡。[9]抗議活動一度於10月8日中止，但10月24日再次恢復。

2019年11月29日，伊拉克總理阿迪勒·阿卜杜勒-邁赫迪宣佈辭職。[10]12月26日，巴爾哈姆·薩利赫總統在拒絕任命巴士拉省省長阿薩德·艾達尼（英語：Asaad Al Eidani）後遞交辭職信，後者由伊朗支持的議會集團比納集團（英語：Bina bloc）提名為新總理，並指出示威者不會接受艾達尼。[11]

背景

2011年，伊拉克境內各省爆發了抗議活動，要求結束腐敗、裙帶關係和失業，同時還希望政府提高工資和改善公共服務，例如電力，交通，醫療，教育和市政服務。[13] 由於總理努里·馬利基被指漠視遜尼派政府官員，在2012－13年伊拉克抗議活動（英語：2012–13 Iraqi protests）中，六個遜尼派主要省份的抗議不斷升級。抗議者要求推翻宗派主義政府和重新起草憲法，並遊行進入巴格達以占領綠區[14]。
