Windows ADK（Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit），曾用名Windows AIK或WAIK（Windows Automated Installation Kit）是Microsoft開發的旨在幫助將Microsoft Windows操作系統映像部署到目標計算機或VHD 虛擬硬盤上的工具集合，最早出現在Windows Vista上。WAIK 是Microsoft Deployment Toolkit（英語：Microsoft Deployment Toolkit）的必要組件。^[2]^[3]

部署映像服務和管理工具（DISM）

部署映像服務和管理工具（Deployment Image Servicing and Management ，DISM）是一個可以執行多種服務任務的命令行工具。它可用於查詢、配置、安裝或卸載 Windows 功能，如本地化設置、語言包、可選系統組件、設備驅動程序、通用Windows平台應用及Windows更新等。DISM 能夠對運行中的Windows實例、另一個分區的離線實例或一個WIM文件里的Windows安裝映像執行這些操作。^[4]^[5]^[6]在Windows Server 2012及以後的系統上，它還可以聯機修復受損的Windows系統文件。^[7]

自Windows 7和Windows Server 2008 R2起，DISM 就已經是 Windows 的一部分。^[4] 在 Windows Server 2012 與 Windows 8之前，DISM 已經包含ImageX的大部分功能（但不是全部）；若要捕捉部署所用的磁盤映像，則仍然需要 ImageX 。^[4]然而在Windows 8上， DISM 將 ImageX 廢棄。^[8]不僅如此，藉助22個cmdlets，Windows 8和Windows Server 2012上的DISM服務可用於PowerShell的面向對象腳本編輯。^[9]而在Windows 10和Windows Server 2016上，這一數目已達到62。^[10]

映像與配置編輯器

預安裝環境

WAIK 包含 Windows預安裝環境——一個可從預啟動執行環境、CD-ROM、USB閃存盤或外置硬盤引導的縮減版Windows，用於部署、故障排除或恢復Windows環境。它已經取代了MS-DOS 啟動盤、緊急修復盤、復原主控台以及自動系統恢復啟動盤。最初由大企業與OEM（在生產計算機的過程中預裝Windows客戶端版系統）使用，WinPE現已在WAIK中免費提供。

用戶狀態遷移工具

Windows 7上的WAIK包含 User State Migration Tool v4.0，一個用於將一套Windows上用戶設置以操作系統升級或清除並重裝（如清除rootkit時）方式傳輸到另一套Windows上的命令行界面工具。USMT v4.0 能夠將 Microsoft Windows XP 及以上的系統中的設置遷移到 Microsoft Windows Vista或更高。^[11]

ImageX

ImageX 是用於創建、編輯和部署Windows映像格式的Windows映像的命令行工具。自Windows Vista起，Windows安裝程序藉助WAIK API來安裝Windows。

最初發行的ImageX原型版本是build 6.0.4007.0 (main.030212-2037)。它與Longhorn alpha原型同時開發，最初於Longhorn項目的Milestone 4引入並在之後的版本中使用，使得微軟的OEM合作商測試映像技術成為可能。Build 6.0.5384.4 (Beta 2) 在舊版本的基礎上發生顯著變化，例如文件夾的只讀/可讀寫掛載選項、分割為多個鏡像文件及最新的LZX壓縮算法。它在Windows Vista的Release Candidate版本之前就開始被使用了。
