針對女性的暴力行為 （英文：Violence Against women，縮寫：VAW）泛指針對女性或對女性產生影響的暴力行為。有時，這種行為屬於一種仇恨罪行[1][2][3]，指針對某一特定性別的犯罪行為。對女性的暴力行為是帶有性別歧視的，也就是說，施暴者因為施暴對象是女性而對其實施暴力，或是由於父系社會的觀念。聯合國消除對婦女的暴力行為宣言表明：
「對婦女的暴力行為是歷史上男女權利不平等關係的一種表現」「對婦女的暴力行為是嚴酷的社會機制之一，它迫使婦女陷入從屬於男子的地位」[4]
前任聯合國秘書長科菲·安南在2006年發佈在聯合國婦女發展基金會（英文：United Nations Development Fund of Women，縮寫：UNDFW）網站上的一篇報告中指出：
對婦女、女童的暴力行為是一個普遍的問題。全世界超過三分之一的女性都遭受到不同的程度上的暴力行為，包括毒打、強姦，熟識者的暴力行為。[5]
針對女性的暴力可包括個體實施的暴力行為和國家實施的暴力行為。個體實施暴力的方式有強姦、家庭暴力、性騷擾、強制使用避孕藥、溺棄女嬰、產前性別選擇、孕期暴力和聚眾暴力。除此之外，有些不良傳統和習俗也是針對女性的暴力行為，例如榮譽謀殺、嫁妝暴力、切割女性生殖器官、騙婚和逼婚。國家使用暴力的方式有，戰時實施戰爭強姦、性暴力和性奴役行為；強制絕育、強制墮胎；警察和權貴人士實施的暴力行為；投石和鞭刑。犯罪集團有組織地實施非法買賣女性和強制賣淫活動，這些同樣屬於針對女性的暴力行為。[6]
世界衛生組織 (WHO)，在其針對女性暴力的研究中，將女性一生分為五個階段：「1) 出生前，2) 嬰兒時期，3) 少女時期，4) 青春期和成人後，5) 晚年」[7]。
這些年來，隨着各種大會、歐盟組織提出女性暴力這一問題，故而越來越受到國際上的關注。歐盟法中包括性騷擾[8]和販賣人口[9]相關法規。
