2016年Dota 2國際邀請賽（英語：The International 2016，簡稱TI6）是由活閥公司主辦的《Dota 2》電子競技世界錦標賽，為年度大賽Dota 2國際邀請賽的第六屆賽事。賽事於2016年6月預選賽階段正式開始，並於8月在西雅圖鑰匙競技場的正賽結束後落下帷幕。
本屆賽事獎金總額超過2,000萬美元，創下了當時電子競技賽事獎金之最。總決賽採用五局三勝制，在中國戰隊Wings Gaming與美國戰隊Digital Chaos之間開展，最終Wings Gaming 3:1獲得總冠軍，贏得獎金900餘萬美元[1]。該賽事全球觀眾數達數百萬，並被認為是有史以來最偉大的電競比賽之一，比賽中經歷了多次爆冷以及「灰姑娘的故事」[2][3]。

與往年比賽一樣，活閥在賽前發佈了《Dota 2》的戰鬥通行證「互動指南」（Compendium）。購買玩家除獲得道具和各類獎勵外，亦同時參與眾籌獎池[4]——互動指南收入的25％將注入比賽獎池，而其餘75％則用來支付成本[4][5]。
預選賽於6月開始。首先美洲、中國、歐洲和東南亞四個賽區分別舉行公開海選賽[6]，海選賽優勝者將獲參加月底地區預選賽的資格。地區預選賽冠軍首先獲邀晉級國際邀請賽；第二至五名的隊伍展開第二圈比賽，本輪獲勝者亦取得正賽參賽資格。六支隊伍因先前《Dota 2》賽事成績優秀，獲得直邀資格而無需預選[7]。然而，在6月結束的馬尼拉特錦賽上，2015年Dota 2國際邀請賽冠軍Evil Geniuses因違反活閥公司換人規則，失去了直邀資格[8]。他們和同樣違反規則的Team Secret被迫參加公開海選賽及主預選賽，最終均在各自賽區以第一名晉級[9][10]。兩支菲律賓戰隊TnC Gaming和Execration辦理美國旅行簽證遇到問題，最終在菲律賓參議員班·阿基諾（Bam Aquino）的幫助下，於正賽開始前一周成功取得簽證[11]。
正賽在西雅圖舉行，8月2日進行了外卡賽，最終EHOME和Escape Gaming晉級了組內循環賽[12]。組內循環賽由一共兩組每組八支隊伍組成，每組的前四名進入三局兩勝雙敗淘汰制的勝者組正賽，後四名進入敗者組[12]。總決賽由勝者組冠軍Wings Gaming對陣敗者組冠軍Digital Chaos，兩隊上演了一場精彩的五局三勝較量，最終前者以3:1的比分獲得總冠軍[12][13]。

總決賽
總決賽在勝者組冠軍Wings Gaming和敗者組冠軍Digital Chaos間展開，採用為五局三勝制。Wings Gaming首局失利，但隨後連勝三局，取得本屆賽事總冠軍，並贏得900萬美元的冠軍獎金[13]。

影響
本屆賽事的眾籌獎池為20,770,460美元，超過了上屆比賽的1,840萬美元，創下當時電子競技賽事獎池金額之最，這一紀錄直至下屆比賽的舉行才被打破[4][18][19][20]。位於西雅圖的比賽場地鑰匙競技場的門票銷售一空，全世界數百萬觀眾通過直播平台觀看了比賽[21]。在比賽的開幕式上，活閥總裁基布·紐維爾（Gabe Newell）稱該比賽為公司每個人的「年度高潮」，小提琴家琳西·特莉（Lindsey Stirling）在舞台上演奏了遊戲的部分配樂[22]。2016年Dota 2國際邀請賽被認為是電子競技歷史上的最佳比賽之一，出現了多次爆冷，一些送分童子隊伍也有着亮眼表現[23][24]。此外，比賽本身的產值也受到了讚譽，遊戲開發和比賽組織者活閥將諸如擴張實境（AR）之類的技術應用到了直播中，該技術可以在熒幕上顯示遊戲角色，仿佛身臨其境[21]。
