《馬利蘭，我的馬利蘭》（英語："Maryland, My Maryland"）是美國馬利蘭州1939年至2021年間所採用的州歌。[1]該歌的旋律取自德國聖誕頌歌《聖誕樹》[2]，歌詞則取自占士·賴德·蘭德爾於1861年創作的一首九節詩。馬利蘭州議會最終於1939年4月29日將《馬利蘭，我的馬利蘭》確立為該州州歌。[3]

這首歌的歌詞中提及了馬利蘭州的歷史及地理，並提到了對該州產生了重要影響的幾位歷史人物。該歌歌詞取自創作於南北戰爭初期的詩，是美利堅聯盟國的戰歌。[4]此外，這首詩還被譽為美國「最具尚武精神的詩」。[5]

歷史

這首歌源自南北戰爭初期的歷史事件，當時亞伯拉罕·林肯總統（歌詞中的「暴君」及「破壞者」）下令讓軍隊開進華盛頓哥倫比亞特區，以保護首都並做好與南方開戰的準備。聯邦軍隊在行軍時部分隊伍會經過巴爾的摩，而當時馬利蘭州存在很多對南方抱有同情態度的居民，這些人反對調集軍隊平叛。[8]這一情緒導致1861年4月聯邦軍路過巴爾的摩時發生了騷亂，很多居民和士兵在此次騷亂中喪生。同年4月29日，馬利蘭州議會以53票對13票反對脫離聯邦[9]，但同時亦投票決定關閉與北方的鐵路連接，並要求林肯總統不再向馬利蘭州增派軍隊。[8]此時的馬利蘭州議會可謂如履薄冰，竭力避免該州捲入此次戰爭。[8]不過就在一個月後來自馬利蘭州的美國最高法院首席大法官羅渣·B·東尼因軍隊運輸問題起草了當時頗具爭議性的《梅里曼單方裁定》。[10][11]

據報道稱，歌詞作者蘭德爾的朋友法蘭西斯·X·沃德在部隊行軍騷亂時遇害。蘭德爾為土生土長的馬利蘭州人，當時正在路易斯安納州波因特庫皮堂區的普瓦德拉學院任教。在得知朋友遇害的消息後，蘭德爾不能自已，寫下了《馬利蘭，我的馬利蘭》這首九節詩，並在詩中懇求馬利蘭州脫離聯邦並加入聯盟。[6]根據蘭德爾後來的說法，這首歌是他在1861年4月26日的半夜「不由自主地寫成的」，當時他無法入眠，精神世界似乎被某種強大力量所佔據，在更多感性而非理性的支配下寫成了這首詩。[12]

廢止

馬利蘭州議會於1974年、1980年、1984年、2001年、2002年、2009年、2016年、2018年和2019年多次試圖修改這首州歌，但均未成功。[17][18]2015年7月，馬利蘭州眾議院衛生和政府運營委員會主席彼得·哈門議員要求馬利蘭州檔案館成立一個顧問小組來對這首歌進行審查。該小組於同年12月發佈報告建議廢除這首歌，但同時也給出了替代方案。顧問小組認為，新的州歌應該歌頌馬利蘭州及其公民，且需要具有歷史性和獨特性，並且不能對個別群體造成冒犯。此外，審核小組還認為新的州歌應當具有易於流行、簡短且可唱的特點。[19]
