Limnofregata是一屬已滅絕的原始軍艦鳥，生存於始新世伊普雷斯期，約4900萬年前，其化石發現於美國懷俄明州的格林河組（英語：Green River Formation）。

名稱

學名Limnofregata中Limno-意為湖泊、沼澤，而fregata則是現代軍艦鳥屬的學名，其意為「淡水軍艦鳥」，指的是本屬軍艦鳥生活在淡水環境，與均為海鳥的現代軍艦鳥並不相同。

模式物種L. azygosternon的種加詞由希臘語azygos（意為互不連接的）和sternon（意為胸部）組成，指的是其胸帶的元素未融合。^[1]2005年發表的L. hasegawai的種加詞系紀念日本古生物學家長谷川善和（日語：長谷川善和）。^[2]2014年發表的L. hutchisoni的種加詞系紀念採集該化石的J. Howard Hutchison。^[3]
