鼠狐猴属(学名:Cheirogaleus)为灵长目鼠狐猴科的一属,和其他狐猴一样,所有的鼠狐猴均为马达加斯加的特有种。
描述
鼠狐猴属的体长约为19至27厘米(7.5至10.6英寸),尾长约为16至17厘米(6.3至6.7英寸),总体来说,体型略大于倭狐猴,略小于驯狐猴。牠们的头部比起其他狐猴更趋近于球型,但口鼻部比驯狐猴长。后肢较前肢稍长,肢间指数平均约为71;但不具有鼬狐猴或大狐猴那样的延长的四肢。鼠狐猴在抓握物件或树枝时,会将物体握于第二指与第三指之间,这项特征与南美洲的猴类似;相较之下,其他灵长类大多会将物体握于拇指和食指之间。鼠狐猴的指甲尖锐,略向上翘[4]。
鼠狐猴栖息于马达加斯加东部海岸林下层林丛中,为夜行性及四足步行;会在为期四至五个月的冬季时会进入蛰伏状态,并以储存于尾部的脂肪维生。和其他夜行性的原猿类物种一样,鼠狐猴多半为独居或成对。白天则会蜷缩于树洞内的巢穴睡觉,会透过粪便来标记领域。牠们的主食包括水果、花朵,甚至会协助部分植物物种传播花粉[4]。
