LP 40-365是在小熊座的一颗低质量白矮星。它具有非常不寻常的元素组成，缺乏氢、氦或碳，并正以高速穿过银河。它可能是在一颗未能完全摧毁其宿主恒星的次发光的Iax型超新星中产生的[2][4][5]。“LP”这个名字来源于20世纪60年代出现的Luyten-Palomar自行目录[6]。这颗恒星在另一个目录的名称是“GD 492”[3]。这颗恒星被归类为吉克拉斯天体，亨利·李·吉克拉斯在1970年将其命名为“GD 492”[7]。
