早年生活

约书亚·奥尼尔·杰克逊出生于加州圣地亚哥郡，母亲服务于美国海军。在杰克森八个月大的时候，他的母亲为了能居住在亲戚附近，决定搬入密歇根州。 。在美国中学八年级时，杰克森因为对篮球的热爱影响到了课业，父母因而决定让其进入新学校再读一次八年级。在高中时期，他首先进入了底特律的联盟大学预备学校就读一二年级，而后进入了纳帕的贾斯丁西娜中学就读。
