竹雞（學名：Bambusicola thoracica）為雉科竹雞屬的鳥類，俗名華南竹鷓鴣、泥滑滑、山菌子、竹鷓鴣、普通竹雞，分布於長江流域以南、北達陝西南部、西至四川盆地西緣、東達福建，主要棲息於山區、平原、灌叢、竹林以及草叢，現已被引入日本、夏威夷和阿根廷^[2]。本種為單型種，沒有亞種分化，^[3]。
