美國肺臟協會
美國肺臟協會(American Lung Association, ALA)是一個非營利的組織, "戰勝一切形式的肺病、 特別注重哮喘、吸菸控制及環境健康"。 美國肺臟協會的資助來自民眾捐款、公司資助，各種基金會和政府機構捐贈。美國肺臟協會的工作主要通過成千上萬的志願者和工作人員來完成的。
歷史
- 1904年，美國肺臟協會的前身是(美國)全國結核病防治協會(National Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis)， 重點研究和預防結核病。
- 1919年，(美國)全國結核病防治協會改名為(美國)全國結核病協會(National Tuberculosis Association, NTA).
- 1944年，賽爾曼·A·瓦克斯曼對結核病患者試驗鏈黴素. 1952年獲諾貝爾獎.
- 1968年，再改名為(美國)全國結核病及呼吸系統疾病協會(National Tuberculosis and Respiratory Disease Association)。
- 1973年，改為現名美國肺臟協會。
